El tema del Día Mundial de las Aves Migratorias 2020 es “Las aves conectan nuestro mundo”.
Fue elegido, informa la ONG encargada de las actividades para celebrar el día, hoy sábado 10 de octubre, para resaltar la importancia de conservar y restaurar la conectividad ecológica y la integridad de los ecosistemas que sustentan los movimientos naturales de las aves migratorias y que son esenciales para su supervivencia y bienestar.
¿Por qué son importantes?
“Son beneficiosas para nosotros y los ecosistemas del planeta porque brindan servicios críticos como la dispersión de semillas, la polinización, el control de plagas y más. No solo son vitales para mantener la vida en la Tierra, sino que también brindan importantes beneficios económicos y empleos a través del turismo, la investigación y la educación, y actividades de ocio como la observación de aves y la fotografía”, explica https://www.worldmigratorybirdday.org/
Además, continúa: “son fundamentales para nuestras culturas y se han reflejado en nuestro arte, música, teatro y sistemas de creencias a lo largo de la historia. Las aves nos inspiran y nos ayudan a conectarnos entre nosotros y a volver a conectarnos con la naturaleza”.
Las organizaciones que están uniendo fuerzas para fortalecer el reconocimiento y la apreciación mundial de las aves migratorias son La Convención sobre Especies Migratorias (CMS), el Acuerdo sobre Aves Acuáticas Africano-Eurasiático (AEWA) y el Medio Ambiente para las Américas (EFTA)
