El doctor Victor Nolasco, gerente médico de Novo Nordisk CLAT, indica que más allá de las características físicas evidentes que tiene esta enfermedad, es importante reconocer que, para abordar esta condición, se necesita una combinación de diversos tratamientos médicos supervisados por un profesional de la salud, ya que es el único que podrá indicar el plan adecuado dependiendo de la necesidad y los antecedentes del paciente.
“Hay muchas personas que, a pesar de hacer ejercicio e intentar tener un régimen de alimentación adecuada, no logran tener un peso saludable, y justamente es porque en esta enfermedad intervienen otros factores que únicamente un profesional de la salud especializado en su tratamiento puede atender”.
El 4 de marzo se conmemoró el Día Mundial de la Obesidad, una fecha que busca generar reflexión sobre esta enfermedad, haciendo un llamado a trabajar en conjunto para lograr una vida más feliz, saludable y más larga para los pacientes que viven con sobrepeso y obesidad.
Una persona que vive con obesidad debe cuidar su alimentación, incluir el consumo de frutas, verduras y cereales integrales, disminuir el consumo de sal y también de bebidas alcohólicas, beber al menos 1.5 litros de agua diarios y cocinar con procedimientos bajos en grasa, pero esto no es suficiente si no tiene un control médico que evalúe las razones de su padecimiento y las implicaciones que este tiene”, mencionó Nolasco.
En cuanto al ejercicio, este resulta fundamental para el tratamiento de la obesidad, ya que la actividad física previene enfermedades cardiovasculares, mejora la presión arterial y la capacitación respiratoria, y también impacta positivamente a nivel psicológico, mediante la mejora de la autoestima y el control de la ansiedad.
En muchos pacientes el factor psicológico es clave en el padecimiento de obesidad y sobrepeso, ya que la obesidad se asocia usualmente a problemas como depresión, ansiedad y otras afecciones. Por esto, se recomienda incluir dentro del tratamiento la terapia y acompañamiento psicológico para ayudar a los pacientes a atender los aspectos emocionales durante el proceso.
Para finalizar, Nolasco resaltó la importancia de acompañar el tratamiento integral con medicina farmacológica para que, complementado a estos factores mencionados anteriormente, resulte efectivo. Es importante mencionar que el medicamento que se utilice debe ser analizado y aprobado por un profesional de la salud y además que el paciente debe tener una supervisión minuciosa durante el proceso.
